Thanks to ABC's Spicks and Specks, I now have a new goal in life - to see The Grates live in concert. Or at least in gig.
Ok, so that's a slight exag. but I do feel I need to see them live. I learnt, tonight, something about their performance that is truly amazing. Patience, the leading lady, is not only a female vocalist extraordinaire.
Patience, leading lady, plays the ribbon.
She says that she listens to their songs and can just tell when "yep, that needs a ribbon" to add a sense of drama. Once, during a performance in Newcastle, the audience attempted to de-instrument Patience by stealing the ribbon right out of her hands. Naughty Novocastrians.
And, when she forgets her ribbon, she plays the sock puppet. Cries are often heard at performances in the less affluent areas from the audience, many screaming "HOLY FUCK THE SOCK PUPPET'S SINGING!!!!"

yeah, that is incredibly bizzare. what are the odds of someone you know driving past and helping you out right when you need it the most? maybe Mima was following you all along, stalking you.

'cept will, who knows how typical it would be of me to be trudging up the highway/bypass/thing.

it's not exactly a foreign roadway, anyhow. Having shopped at charlie for ten years, I should know how to get around there. Truth is, i don't think i could have driven from charlie to will's place either. probably not all the fault of the buses.

yeah, despite their faults, buses and trains do have set routes and times (even if they don't follow them as strictly as they should), so it is up to us to know how to use themno, it's always their fault. never blame yourself when you can blame public transport.
