**I believe number twelve is a Poster's Choice question, so I pose this dilema and ask for your response: You are in charge of a major hospital in a major city of 500 people. A plague affecting the victim's brain has broken out in the city and it is spreading quickly, taking the lives of dozens at a time, and making everyone else increasingly ill. In your waiting room there sits a man who has not been affected by the plague yet. In your Emergency Rooms (all rooms in the hospital have become Emergency Rooms) there are a hundred patients at death's door, and as soon as they die, they will merely be replaced by other dying victims. You are certain that this man has some kind of resistance to the plague which you could use to create a cure. Your only way to examine the resistance and provide a cure to the rest of the city would be to invasively examine his brain, invariably killing him. You cannot ask him if he would willingly agree to help, as a "no" on his part would doom the city. Do you take action, drug him, and perform the surgery anway, on the basis that he may have said yes? Or do you let the 500 people die, and possibly allow the plague to spread to the surrounding cities, the nation, and then the globe?** Um. I'd probably ask him, but that's not an option, is it? Then, I'd drug him and perform it even if it's killing one person to save another. ):
