Thanks to ABC's Spicks and Specks, I now have a new goal in life - to see The Grates live in concert. Or at least in gig.

Ok, so that's a slight exag. but I do feel I need to see them live. I learnt, tonight, something about their performance that is truly amazing. Patience, the leading lady, is not only a female vocalist extraordinaire.

Patience, leading lady, plays the ribbon.

She says that she listens to their songs and can just tell when "yep, that needs a ribbon" to add a sense of drama. Once, during a performance in Newcastle, the audience attempted to de-instrument Patience by stealing the ribbon right out of her hands. Naughty Novocastrians.

And, when she forgets her ribbon, she plays the sock puppet. Cries are often heard at performances in the less affluent areas from the audience, many screaming "HOLY FUCK THE SOCK PUPPET'S SINGING!!!!"

Much love to Novocastrians :D
(but DEATH to their public transport system!)

haha whoops, that was meant to be "Novocastrians" I think. I should pay more attention to what I'm writing and less attention to House.

Is it that bad? Worse than Sydney?

yip. There's less buses, for one thing. And maybe it's just that i don't use it on a daily basis, but i can never figure out what bus goes where. I only managed to get to Will's today because Mima rescued me as I was trudging along the Highway looking lost.

Haha. Amy, admit it, you were hitchhiking. I bet you were even wearing the purple Leg Dress :P

i wasn't! i was looking for a bus stop!

only i think i wasn't on the Highway at all, i think i'd ended up heading for the Bypass, which the buses do not go down. so it's just as well Mima did happen along, even though it was utterly bizzare.

From: [identity profile] phrasemuffin.livejournal.com

Sure thing, Amy. We believe you. :P

yeah, that is incredibly bizzare. what are the odds of someone you know driving past and helping you out right when you need it the most? maybe Mima was following you all along, stalking you.

*sigh* no one ever believes me...

'cept will, who knows how typical it would be of me to be trudging up the highway/bypass/thing.

From: [identity profile] phrasemuffin.livejournal.com

so, are you saying you get lost often/easily, or that you like wandering foreign highways/bypasses/things?

From: [identity profile] highlyeccentric.livejournal.com

i get lost often and easily.

it's not exactly a foreign roadway, anyhow. Having shopped at charlie for ten years, I should know how to get around there. Truth is, i don't think i could have driven from charlie to will's place either. probably not all the fault of the buses.

From: [identity profile] phrasemuffin.livejournal.com

yeah, despite their faults, buses and trains do have set routes and times (even if they don't follow them as strictly as they should), so it is up to us to know how to use them

no, it's always their fault. never blame yourself when you can blame public transport.

In newcastle, the buses which are listed on the bus stop do not come when they are supposed to- or even within an hour of when they are supposed to- and completely different buses which are not supposed to be there at all do come.

From: [identity profile] phrasemuffin.livejournal.com

Oh, snap! That's horrible. How does anyone ever get around if they don't have a car?
Won't somebody think of the children?!?!

From: [identity profile] highlyeccentric.livejournal.com

people have cars :)

or people learn to psychically understand the buses.
