uh oh, today i called all the numbers i had for accompanists and none of them ... well, they are all different, so how about i go through them one by one.

First, i called my tried and true AMEB exam accompanist - she has accompanied me for three exams now - 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade singing (well, i wouldn't need an accompanist for the ONE piano exam i did, would i?), and for each one, she was great. And she wasn't very expensive so it meant that i could get a few lessons and then the exam for about $50 or $60 each exam. Unfortunately, she told me a while ago that she would be moving to some far out place in NSW, like near the mountains or something i think she said, but she didn't know when she was leaving so i kind of wrote her off. But, seeing as the other accompanist i had lined up for two of my pieces almost definately cancelled on me, i thought i should give my Val a call and see if she could play, even if it were just for the trials. So i call her this about midday today and the call can't be connected. So i think she is gone.

So having scrrrratched her name off the list, i decided i should probably go to a list of four names The Drurinator (as hydeist_ has renamed her) found for me. The first one didn't pick up so i left a message, but i think i may have forgotten to say when the trials are on exactly (i did say "if there is any chance that you can accompany me, call me at ...", so lets keep our fingers crossed). Then i called the second number, and i got Internet Noise, so i got scared i might be disconnecting or disrupting her and promptly hung up. The third number i called and got another answering machine. I didn't leave a message the first time i called, but after calling the fourth number and finding that it too had been disconnected like Val's, i rerang and she picked up. There was an awkward introduction (i think i may have woken her up, even though it was now about 12:30) and she told me that she worked during the day, i countered that t would be an evening performance, she said she would have to get her diary and check the dates, and then flat out told me "No i can't do it, sorry. Goodluck finding someone, though." I was heartbroken - i thought that this lady would solve my problem seeing as she was actually at home when i called and she wouldn't be at work during the evening, but no; it seems i don't get to have an accompanist this time through the HSC.

My last remaining options include the following - my singing teacher who is an excellent pianist (by my standards anyway - she always does well during the lessons), a couple of guys from school that i will have to sus out, and my accomanist for Don't get around much anymore The Drurinator's side kick, Mr Goldenboy, but from past experience t seems liek his fingers only know how to play Jazzier pieces, not conventional or classical. I guess i should ask him though, or ask him if he knows anyone. Unless of course any of you, my faithful readers know anyone ...
