=D

In other news, I know I haven't posted in a while, but I am not going to feel guilty about it no matter how hard you try (and yes, that was an invitation to try). The past week and a bit have been... interesting, to say the least, and I haven't really been in the mood to post anything much. However, seeing as yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] dawn_of_buffy's 18th birthday (and for my American friends not in the know, the 18th birthday in Australian law is when you become legal for practically everything - drinking, signing contracts without obligatory guardians being present or whatever, voting, the lot), I think it's time for me to get back to it all.

So, yesterday dawn_ turned 18, and he had a huge family/friend gathering at his family's restaraunt. There was exellent food, lots of people, and lots of presents. [livejournal.com profile] hydeist_made a CD for him that was, for those of us privileged enough to know him, most certainly up to his high standards... if not surpassing of them. Most of dawn_'s closest friends (within our group at least) recorded messages for him and his birthday... it was/is awesome.

I may leave the rest for dawn_ to fill you in on though, seeing as it was his birthday.

Oh
My
Goodness!

How did I forget to tell you guys this? Last week, at my family's big get-together, where both sides of my family came together (for better or for worse... but that was really only on the bitchy side... and guess which side that was), my cousin-in-law Peter (we seriously have to stop doubling/tripling up on names in my family - it is so sad) told me about his son Joshua (from his first marriage) and how he and a group of his friends are in a band. He is slightly older than me (by about a year), and I have no idea about his friends, but they do covers of bands like R.E.M., Oasis, etc, and none of them are exactly vocalists, so they are on the look-out for one.

Pete told me that he would talk to Josh to get details and stuff, and it sounds so good, I'm just worried either he will kind of force Josh's hand in letting me in, Josh will feel family-guilt (even though we aren't really related), or I'll get in and all will be fine except I will suck and one of the first two options will mean that I stay because no one says anything.

Lets hope none of those three options play out.

And all of this because we somehow got onto talking about singing at work because we want to be "discovered" (though in a far less lame-sounding way, of course).
