Today was my first day back at Uni. Semester 2 has started.
And it didn't start, or end, well.

The middle, however, was quite pleasant.

Lately, I haven't been able to get to sleep until about 2am, whether I go to bed at midnight, earlier, or later. So last night/this morning was no surprise to me. To make sure it didn't affect me too badly, and to ensure that I did actually wake up this morning, I set my alarm to super loud for 8am. However, all I remember of 8am is a blurry slapping of my clock-radio to make the madness end.

In other words, I slept in. Rather badly, actually - I slept in for a whole extra HOUR!! I had to race to get everything ready and be out the door, but because I was late, I lost my chance to leisurely make my way to my first class, stopping off at the info desk to ask where my second class was. The only good that came out of being late was that I got to talk to a girl from primary school on the bus. She's in my education course (as well as another girl from my primary school, but I still haven't spoken to her) and she spotted me last semester as we were leaving a lecture, but we never really got the chance to speak. But we talked the whole way in this morning, up until I got off (she didn't) and I started talking to an older friend doing her thesis who had been on the bus with us too.

Then I was only 5 minutes late to my first lecture! Yay! I rock, you see, because that means it only took me 5 minutes to cross the entire campus from Footbridge to the Old Darlington School. There I found out that two of my friends are doing my music course. SCORE!

My second class was a very basic computer skills class for education. It's compulsory unless you can provide evidence that you know the stuff, like if you did ITC at school or whatever, but I didn't, so I have to do it. It isn't too bad though, because I made a friend as soon as I got in there (and apparently she went to primary school with one of my other uni friends, Cynthia, though that had nothing to do with us becoming friends), and of that I am extremely proud. Actually, today was pretty good for the Social me - there was the reconnexion with an old school friend, a new friend, making conversation in my music class, and friendly smiles with a girl at the bus stop as I was going home.

Linguistics (3rd) was good because not only did I find out I have two really good friends doing it with me (Elise and Cynthia from Philosophy last semester), but it iseems like it's going to be an awesome subject. Our lecturer has a really weird accent, like it's five or six individual accents al rolled into one big ball of speech patterns, and that alone will keep me entertained until midsemester. Apparently we have an assignment every week (yus! finally - just what I need: some actual motivation), and I have to get the textbook pretty soon, but that'll all be good. I'm already learning things!!

And finally I had my Music tutorial. Again, I have a friend from first semester with me, so that's nice, and she's doing both of the music subjects that I'm doing - fundamentals and the digital one. Some good work was done in my tutorial and I think I have reasserted myself as a knowledgeable musician in the eyes of Dr. Hindson (lecturer and tutor).

So, apart from the morning, all had been well on the First Day Back front. That is, until I had to get home. I ended up missing wo buses because the numbers were so faded on both of them that, by the time the buses were close enough to read the numbers on the side, they were too close and it was too late to flag them down. I considered chasing after one of them, but decided not to humiliate myself on the first day. Instead, I walked up to the earlier stop and got on there. Thankfully the next bus was newer and more visible, because I had my first singing lesson in three weeks at 4:30 and it was already 3:30 by the time I was on a bus. If I'd had to wait for the next bus, I wouldn't have been home in time.

Anyway, that's it for my first day. Second day starts at 9 o'clock, so I'll have to wake up at 7 o'clock. It's already quarter to tomorrow, so I had best be off.

Night folks *waves*
