today was ok... I kind of slept in for a bit when I wasn't supposed to, but there was no way I was actually going to get up to be at Uni by 9 anyways, so... I have Fridays off, btw, the only reason I went in was to get course readers and a textbook. I was expecting massive lines at both the co-op and the copy centre, but when I got there, there was almost no one around let alone in line to buy stuff and get in my way. Awesome.
after that, I met up with hydeist_ in Kino (after having some random female-type lead me around the store to show me all the books she liked... it started with her asking if I'd read Anansi Boys, the book I was holding, because she loves Neil Gaiman (author), and by the time I'd responded, the realisation that the reason I've always been taught not to talk to strangers was upon me was too late, so I just played along. Thankfully, I think she got the hint that I needed to go, so we said goodbyes, and moments later hydeist_ arrived. That was why I was holding the books when you got there, even though I answered "Um... just 'cause I was... :S"). I bought two books - Farneheit 451 and Neil Gaiman's American Gods - and F451 looks good so far. That guy sure can write descriptive prose.
We headed off to JB-HiFi after that to buy me an iPod, but they didn't have the one I was after in their display case, so I decided I'd check somewhere else before asking if they had one in storage. Because, obviously, I'm non-confrontational and shy, and the guy at the desk was busy with someone else :( On the way out we stopped at EBGames and I got two games - Sims2 Open For Business expansion and an XMen game (because xmen are hardcore, obviously).
Then came clothes, and I would have gotten my cons today had I not been called up by Amy from work, who asked me to take the last couple of hours of her shift because she was getting tired and sore. I agreed to go in, and left for home straight away :( No cons AND no iPod for me today.
Work was meh at best, but not as bad as it has been.
When I got home though, I installed the X game ('cause hydeist_ won't let me install the other one until I have his expansions as well... soemthing about installing them in the proper order to avoid issues) and went to play it, but got an error message saying "Unable to initialize Direct3D, make sure hardware acceleration is set to full" :( I have no idea how I'm supposed to fix that, if I even can - I searched their site and googled the message, but the only help I got was "check your settings and look for graphic acceleration", it just didn't say what settings or where to look for them. >:( This is where I look to my trustily trusted tech and tech-ish friends for help because all the rest of the internet is useless.
So, no pressure. None at all.
