Today was good, despite a couple of things. And what else should one expect on their birthday? :P
Started the day early (7:30am-ish) so I'd see my mum before she went to work, and everyone but my brother was up and about. Despite numerous calls to his bedroom, he wouldn't wake up, so gifts were given without him. He didn't really need to be there anyway, seeing as he had had no input in anything. But that's ok. We all kind of expect that from him. Lazy and hermit-like is just how he is.
Played around with "Retro Zelda" (The Legend of Zelda from the NES system) on my Wii for a while and exchanged Miis with
citizenerased. Then went off to work expecting to be with Amy for the day (as is our Tuesday Custom), but she did something to her arm this morning, got an x-ray, and apparently can't work for two days.
Not cool.
Worked with Vivian instead, and we all love Vivian. She's always so happy and smiley that you just can't help but join in on the positive vibes. I ended up getting a birthday cake from my boss (below), birthday wishes from all the staff I saw, and even one from my old boss who owns a Michele's right in front of us. She sold our shop about six months ago, so I was quite touched that she remembered.
As soon as I got home (seriously), I got a call from my Aunty. She was at work (she's a nurse in a maternity ward), and she had sick babies coming out of her ears, but she still stole a minute or two to talk to me.
That might have been the best gift today.
Went to the city for dinner at Bill and Tony's - my favourite place ever (probably more for the sentimental reasons, but for the realy good food too). Haven't been there for ages, so it was the perfect way to end the day.
Oh, and my brother didn't say a single thing to me today. Not even a disgruntledly muttered "happy birthday" in my general direction. I have no idea why.
Everyone at work also got christmas presents from our boss (the girls all got wine/champagne, and I got Dutch chocolate cuz I don't like wine), and we have our store's christmas party this Friday. We're planning on getting the boss some good champagne to say thanks for the evening (his wife and he are paying for all 10-14 of us) and merry christmas, but somehow I've ended up with the orgnising role... uh oh. I don't know anything about champagne, and I don't do well trying to get people to pay up when they "forget", so... I dunno. We'll see how it all turns out.
